Brolo è un borgo ricco di leggende che si intrecciano alla sua storia millenaria. Storie tramandate di generazione in generazione, che avvolgono il paese in un’atmosfera di fascino e mistero.
Uno dei luoghi più enigmatici è la Porta Fausa: un antico ingresso secondario al Castello, nascosto tra le grotte sottostanti.
Si narra che dalle stesse grotte partisse un passaggio segreto, che collegava la torre di Brolo con quella di Gliaca. Un tunnel sotterraneo che permetteva di muoversi indisturbati.
Un’altra leggenda che anima le vie del borgo è quella del Sugghiu, una creatura mostruosa a metà tra un uomo e un serpente. Si dice che il Sugghiu si aggirasse tra l’intrigo di stradine e il vicino torrente, terrorizzando chiunque si avvicinasse con il suo urlo agghiacciante.
Queste e molte altre leggende rendono Brolo un luogo in cui realtà e fantasia si mescolano, dando vita a storie senza tempo. Tra queste la più importante: la leggenda di Maria la Bella.

Brolo is a village rich in legends that intertwine with its millennial history. Stories handed down from generation to generation, enveloping the town in an atmosphere of charm and mystery.
One of the most enigmatic places is the Porta Fausa – False Door: an ancient secondary entrance to the Castle, hidden among the caves below.
It is said that from these caves a secret passage started, connecting the tower of Brolo with that of Gliaca. An underground tunnel that allowed people to move in secret.
Another legend that animates the streets of the village is that of the Sugghiu, a monstrous creature halfway between a man and a snake. It is said that the Sugghiu roamed between the tangle of narrow streets and the nearby stream, terrorizing anyone who approached with its chilling scream.
These and many other legends make Brolo a place where reality and fantasy mix, giving life to timeless stories. Among these, the most important: the legend of Maria la Bella.
